On the occasion of Global Tiger Day, 29 July, 2019. Santiniketan Public School organized numerous activities to raise awareness about endangered big cats.

The program started with the speech of Suryani of grade VIII. In her speech, she brought into lime light the importance of celebrating this day, that is, to promote the protection of natural habitat of tigers and to increase awareness about the conservation of tigers. She also elucidated the reasons behind the declining population of tigers like poaching and illegal trade, degradation of the habitats and climatic change. Her speech was followed by the mime performance of grade VIII boys. Their theme was based on the estranged relationship between man and tiger.

The boys dressed up as tigers and stole the show. The children were also encouraged to make postures and write slogans based on the theme of tiger conservation. Slogans like ‘ROAR! TO SAVE TIGERS’ , ‘DON’T CHEAT ON CHEETAS’ , ‘DON’T STRIP THE STRIPES’ grabbed the attention of the readers.
